More teacher strikes

I thought school looked a bit quiet today. According to unions 55% of teachers were on strike today against the reduction in the number of posts.

It's not like me to break a strike, but being a Brit I'm used to having a ballot beforehand so it just didn't feel right. Now I feel like a scab. I definitely should join the next one.

There's always a way of justifying breaking a strike to yourself, mine have included in the past (a) not actually working for the organisation in dispute as I was agency and would have been taking action unlawfully and (b) being in Reading for the afternoon for a tutorial so I only went on strike for half a day. Looks like you've got your excuse in place for this one, start thinking creatively now for the next one :-)

The thing is in France people on strike either stay at home or go on a demo. If I'd shown up for work and found a picket line, I wouldn't have crossed it.

Anyway, I'm joining the next one.

Bastard scab! You should have taken advantage of the lull in professional activity to give a few private 'tutorials' - all for the right fee, of course.

BTW, my new enhanced Tefl Trade 2 blog has moved to this address:

It's got extra bullshit detecting built in, and is now much more obscene than before!
