Bonjour M. le Prof d'Anglais... I live near Avignon where I currently work as an english language assistant but I would love to pass the Capes and become a Prof d'anglais. However, all my French friends here are convinced that this would be almost impossible as French is not my native language. My written French is better than most of the French people I know... but is this enough?? Help!

Merci beaucoup, Mlle l'assistante d'anglais

Well, lizzie, I'm a non native speaker, I arrived in France with basic schoolboy French and ,anaged to get the Capes after just two years. So I'd advise you to go for it.

However, make sure you do some preparation - sign up for a course, even a distance learning one like the CNED. Don't just read the books and go into the exam cold.
